Public Transportation:

The Turkey Hill Inn - Summit, New Jersey - is quietly nestled away in the beautiful Watchung Hills but is still incredibly convenient to New York City. All forms of public transportation are within walking distance from our door.

Trains:
The Turkey Hill Inn is located just a few blocks up the hill from the Summit Train Station at Union Place. The New Jersey Transit’s Morristown Branch provides direct service into New York's Penn Station without requiring a transfer. The MIDTOWN DIRECT runs can take less than an hour to reach New York's Penn Station.

New Jersey Transit's Gladstone Line provides two direct trains to 33rd Street during the morning and evening rush hour. At other times, one is required to transfer in Summit for the Midtown Direct or in Hoboken for PATH service.

PATH Service to Wall Street & 33rd Street:
Both the Gladstone and Morristown Branch provide service into Hoboken, Journal Square and Newark Penn Station. From those locations PATH service provides continuous service to The World Trade Center or Midtown

• Journal Sq - 33rd St: Grove St, Pavonia/Newport, Christopher St, 9th St, 14th St, 23rd St

In Manhattan, PATH trains operate along 6th Avenue between 9th Street and 33rd Street.
Most trains run every 15 to 30 minutes depending on the time of day.

Lakeland Bus:
Summit is a stop on Lakeland's quick ride into New York’s Port Authority via Millburn / Short Hills and through the Holland Tunnel to Port Authority. There are two stops in Summit; one is located on Broad Street across from the Summit Train Station and the second at the Springfield Avenue Park & Ride near the entrance to I-78/24. New Jersey Transit Buses:
The two New Jersey Transit bus stops in Summit are located at River & Iris Roads and at Broad & Maple Streets, servicing Newark Penn Station and New York Port Authority. For fare and schedules or call 800-772-2222.

Historical Landmarks Nearby:

Morristown National Historic Park features the.Jacob Ford Mansion, an authentically furnished 18th century house Washington used as commander of the Continental Army, and includes exhibits, movie, and gift shop. The Fort Nonsense Unit the site of an earthwork fort built in 1777 and includes historical overlook and wayside signs. The Jockey Hollow Unit was the camp for over 10,000 of Washington's soldiers. This unit includes a Visitor Center with exhibits and a movie; the Wick House, a furnished 18th century farmhouse; a paved tour loop road, 21 miles of hiking trails and five reconstructed soldier huts. The New Jersey Brigade Unit preserves the site of the 1779-80 camp of the New Jersey Brigade and includes hiking trails and formal garden.

Jockey Hollow Unit Off of Temple Wick Road. No admission charge. Grounds open 8:00 a.m. to sunset. Buildings closed Mondays and Tuesdays December through March. Visitor Center 9:00 am to 5:00 p.m. Wick House 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Liberty Science Center:

Located in beautiful Liberty State Park. Featuring over 250 state-of-the-art, interactive exhibits, as well as a 70-foot man made tornado and an IMAX theatre. Each of the museum's three exhibit floors is dedicated to exploration through hands-on experimentation. Closed Mondays.

An outdoor recreational and educational center with an historic railroad terminal. Ferries leave daily to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.


Edison National Historic Site:

Great Swamp Outdoor Education Center

Two miles of self-guided trails. Don't let the "swampy" name get the best of you, there are plenty of boardwalks over the delicate bogs - great scenery, canoeing and birding.


Gateway National Recreation Area
Gateway NRA is a 26,000 acre recreation area located in the heart of the New York metropolitan area. The park extends through three New York City boroughs and into northern New Jersey.

Park sites offer a variety of recreation opportunities, along with a chance to explore many significant cultural and natural resources.
